Apoyo a la Educación en Bilbao: Más de 150.000 euros para 130 programas.

THE EDUCATION AREA OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF BILBAO SUPPORTS MORE THAN 150,000 EUROS FOR A TOTAL OF 130 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

  • As a novelty, this year new innovation programs will be launched to promote scientific and technological vocations in schools in Bilbao, as well as support for the celebration of some anniversaries of educational centers
  • The Councilor for Education of the City Council of Bilbao, Eider Bilbao, points out that with this aid program it is intended to «contribute to making Bilbao an educating city, with the participation of the main protagonists: families through AMPAs, educational centers, and students«.

The Education Area of the City Council of Bilbao will allocate 158,505.62 euros to education support programs, an amount more than 7% higher than that allocated in 2024, with the aim of advancing its commitment to promoting inclusion, family reconciliation, and educational innovation.

A total of 130 projects that include the funding of extracurricular activities and the promotion of work-life balance, complementary activities, projects that promote dialogue and coexistence, and projects that foster innovation.

As a standout point this year, the «Education Support Programs» aim to promote and foster educational innovation so that young people have the opportunity to delve into the scientific and technological world outside of school hours. The Education Area maintains its strong commitment to the educational community «offering training and reconciliation alternatives to the entire educational community, prioritizing projects that allow greater inclusion, participation, and innovation in educational centers, and providing families access to education support programs without financial burden», in the words of the Councilor for Education of the City Council of Bilbao, Eider Bilbao.

Additionally, support will also be provided for the celebration of some anniversaries of educational centers throughout the year. «Schools are a central pillar of educational ecosystems and contribute historical, architectural, social, and environmental value to our city,» added the Councilor for Education of the City Council of Bilbao, Eider Bilbao.

EDUCATION SUPPORT PROGRAMS

This year’s «Education Support Programs» will finance four general concepts; the first of them will be allocated to extracurricular activities and any other type aimed at reconciling family and work life, as well as training for AMPAs. In total, there are 44 approved programs, with a total aid amounting to 82,500.00 €.

The City Council will also subsidize with 30,776.74 € a total of 54 programs related to complementary activities carried out in educational centers. Among others, the celebration of various anniversaries of public schools.

The next package of grants will be aimed at financing programs or projects that promote the value of dialogue, the value of coexistence, the value of solidarity, the integration of students and/or the reception of immigrant students. A total of 27 approved programs with an amount of 37,362.88 €.

Finally, and as a novelty this year, the City Council will support a total of five programs or projects that promote Innovation, with a aid of 7,866.00€, thus promoting scientific and technological vocations in schools in Bilbao.

In total, the available balance for «Education Support Programs» is 158,505.62€ in 2025. Last year, these grants amounted to 147,038 euros, therefore, this year’s allocation, approved by the Board of Directors on Wednesday, June 11, increases by more than 7%.

The «Education Support Programs» aim to highlight Education in the city. «Contribute to making Bilbao an educating city with the participation of the main protagonists: families through AMPAs, educational centers, students», as indicated by Bilbao.

This project aims to promote, therefore, the participation of the educational community. «Deploying Education Support Programs to promote the activity of the center outside of school hours and the implementation of extracurricular and complementary activities; Facilitating the participation of students with special educational needs; Incorporating educational innovation linked to STEAM activities in a new section; Strengthening associative fabric and family participation through AMPAs, their most effective tool; With initiatives that contribute to personal, family, work reconciliation, and shared responsibility,» concluded Eider Bilbao.
