The Bilbao Scenic Resources Center, BilbaoEszena, will open the call for the 17th edition of the ‘Artists in Residence’ program on Monday, March 10, until April 11.
As announced by the City Council of Bilbao, BilbaoEszena will select up to six artistic projects, whose main objectives are the creation, research, and dissemination of scenic proposals.
The call is open only to artists and companies from Euskadi and will provide access to two types of grants. On one hand, there are grants for projects in the initial phase of €2,000, and on the other hand, grants for projects in the development phase of €4,000.
The residencies, with a maximum duration of 25 days based on the presented and selected artistic project, will take place in scenic spaces in Bilbao, preferably during the months of July, August, September, and October.
In addition, the selected individuals or companies will have the opportunity to present their creative processes to the general public or industry professionals at the next edition of the Bilbao Contemporary Theater and Dance Festival, BAD, or other programs of the Culture and Governance Area of the Bilbao City Council.
All interested individuals or companies must complete the official form found on the BAD Festival website and attach a project dossier in PDF format.
The ‘Artists in Residence’ program aims to support scenic creation, in line with the strategic focus on creation outlined in the Bilbao 2023-2033 Cultural Strategic Plan, offering resources to all artistic entities or individual artists interested in developing a creation or research process in scenic areas, especially those related to new scenes with specific interests and a multidisciplinary character.
While the main focus is on theater and dance, projects related to traditional disciplines like street theater or circus are not excluded.
