BilbaoLan conecta alumnado con empresas para inserción laboral

Bajo el lema «Conectando formación, inserción y empresas», el foro reúne a más de 200 personas entre alumnado, entidades sociales y empresas

Bilbao has hosted for the first time BilbaoLan, the Employment Forum which, under the slogan «Connecting training, insertion, and companies,» was held this Tuesday at the Ensanche building with the aim of creating a connection space to directly link students from seven social and educational entities specializing in training and job placement, with about twenty companies from Bilbao Bizkaia, in order to boost employability, job inclusion, and collaboration.

On one hand, over a hundred students from Gaztaroa Sartu, Peñascal S Coop., Fundación Adsis, Grupo SSI, Fundación Claret Sozial Fondoa, Koopera, and the Otxarkoaga Vocational School had the opportunity to have face-to-face contact with about twenty companies, beyond their resumes.

Thus, they have been able to firsthand learn about the opportunities to do internships and get job contracts in these companies, get updated information on the real needs of the local job market, as well as receive specialized support to overcome barriers to job access. This includes students from basic vocational training and middle-grade, as well as students with professional certificate levels 1 and 2, as explained by the municipality.

On the other hand, BilbaoLan has allowed the seven social and educational entities to showcase the training and support programs they offer, facilitating direct contact between candidates and hiring managers of the business sector. Furthermore, the Employment Forum has also fostered collaboration agreements between training entities and hiring companies.

The Councilor for Economic Development, Commerce, Tourism, and Employment of the Bilbao City Council, Kontxi Claver, highlighted, in the opening ceremony, that «this fair is a clear example of the Council’s commitment to the job placement of students who generally have more difficulties accessing the market.»

«We seek the commitment of our companies for a very valuable pool of professionals, with the aim of promoting diverse talent. This meeting allows students to reach companies in a more direct way, and with this, we aim for the business sector to see social and educational entities as references when considering hiring,» she said.

Kontxi Claver emphasized that «talent is not exclusively linked to high qualifications, and we must bear in mind that vocational training and professional certificates offer highly skilled profiles adapted to the real needs of the job market.»

BENEFITS FOR STUDENTS, ENTITIES, AND COMPANIES

During the opening ceremony, a brief presentation of the activities carried out by the seven participating social and educational entities was held, after which students were able to network by visiting the stands where the participating companies were located.

The sectors of activity in BilbaoLan have been very varied, allowing students to establish specific contacts related to their studies and specific profiles.

As highlighted by the council, these are sectors «highly demanded» in the current job market, such as electricity and electronics, IT and communications; welding, boilermaking, and machining; social and healthcare assistance; cleaning; warehouse and logistics; commerce and marketing; air conditioning installations; hospitality and gastronomy; and food industry.

PARTICIPATING COMPANIES

FVEM (Vizcayan Federation of Metal Companies), Leroy Merlin, Grupo Eulen, Grupo SSI, Koopera, Primark, Adecco, Build:Inn (Basque Construction Cluster), AMICYF, QIDA (Caring Well), Aramark, Bizkaia Hospitality Association, Coindata, Erabi, Parte Management Services, Giroa, Cimentaciones Abando, Zaintzen Company, Recalde Studies and Construction, and the Electrical Installers Business Association have been the companies that attended this fair to firsthand learn about the programs and talent of the social and educational entities in Bilbao, and have direct access to candidate individuals for their job positions.

This first edition of BilbaoLan is part of the Bilbao City Council’s commitment to the job placement of groups with special difficulties, «leaving no one behind, aligned with the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations and its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as with the Values Charter of Bilbao,» as highlighted by the council.

Carried out through the team of professionals at the municipal company Bilbao Ekintza, this Employment Forum «strengthens Bilbao’s social commitment to an inclusive and sustainable model in the field of job placement, promoting employability and professional development for groups with greater difficulties, driving a fairer and more diverse job market,» pointed out the municipality.

«Hopefully, at the end of this BilbaoLan, many of these young people will find their first job, with a stable job perspective for both these students and the hiring companies themselves,» Klaver concluded.
