Cambios en el tráfico por la 10k Bilbao Rural Kutxa este domingo

It is advised to those who approach Bilbao throughout the morning to do so by public transport, preferably train or metro

The celebration this Sunday, March 9, of the ’10k Bilbao Rural Kutxa’ will cause significant traffic modifications in the city, which will also affect pedestrian mobility.

According to the Bilbao City Council, various alternative routes have been designed to minimize the impact on traffic flow, which will be monitored at all times by agents of the Municipal Police of Bilbao and event staff.

Everyone who plans to visit Bilbao on Sunday morning is advised to use public transportation, preferably train or metro, as traffic will be challenging between 11:30 and 13:30, approximately.

There will be traffic restrictions, especially in the areas of Abando district (near Gran Vía, Indautxu, and AbandoIbarra), Deusto, Paseo del Campo Volantín, and the surroundings of the City Hall and Arenal, where the start and finish lines will be located.

Several Bilbobus lines will have altered routes and stops. Detailed information on detours, stop closures, and changes will be provided through the usual channels (app, social media, information panels, and bus stops), and for more information, it is recommended to check the website www.bilbao.eus/bilbobus or call 010.

The race, consisting of a 10-kilometer course, will start at 12:00 on Arenal street and finish at Paseo Arenal at 13:40. From 08:00 to around 12:15, traffic will be restricted on Arenal, between Puente de la Merced and Plaza Ernesto Erkoreka.

Access to the garages on Prim-Dolaretxe street will be regulated in the opposite direction by signalers from the intersection with Aurrekoetxea street, and access to Plaza Nueva and Arenal garages will be restricted. Parking will be suspended on Viuda de Epalza, Sendeja, and Arenal streets, as well as taxi stands in that area.

Additionally, from 11:30 to 13:00, traffic restrictions will occur in both directions in the Castaños neighborhood, as the race passes through Plaza Ernesto Erkoreka, Paseo Campo Volantín, and Avenida Universidades. Resident vehicles will be allowed transit as long as safety measures permit, at the discretion of the municipal police.

DEUSTO AND ZORROTZAURRE

From 11:30 to 13:00, approximately, parking will be occupied, and traffic restrictions will be in place in both directions in the Deusto neighborhood as the race passes through Avenida Universidades-Botica Vieja (up to Iruña street), Frances Maciá, and Hermanos Aguirre streets. Garages and parking lots along the route will have no access or exit, and the Deusto bridge will have regulated alternate passage by signalers.

Similarly, from 11:30 to 13:15, approximately, parking will be occupied, and traffic restrictions will occur on Elcano street (between Plaza Museo and Plaza Moyúa), Plaza Moyúa (north side), Gran Vía, Paseo Anselmo Clavé, Avenida Abandoibarra, Paseo Uribitarte, and Puente Ayuntamiento, as the race passes through.

Garages and parking lots along the route will have no access or exit, including those on Máximo Aguirre (between Elcano and Gran Vía) and Colón de Larreategui (between Máximo Aguirre and Plaza San José).
