On June 15th, Sunday, Athletic Club and Fundazioa invite you to participate in a regulated march from Lezama to San Mamés, with three different difficulty levels so that anyone can join, regardless of their level of physical fitness.
Athletic Club has organized a new community event to mobilize society and promote healthy lifestyle habits: Athletic Martxa. It is a non-competitive regulated march that will connect two vital locations of the Club in its main route: the sports facilities in Lezama and the San Mamés stadium.
In addition, the march includes two alternative routes that overlap with the main one: a more family-friendly and less demanding route starting around 12:00 at the top of Artxanda, next to the funicular, and another route designed for people with reduced mobility starting at La Salve Bridge around 12:30. The joint arrival at San Mamés is scheduled for around 1:00 in the afternoon.
Upon arrival at the stadium, the esplanade of San Mamés will host a great Topaketa with games for children to conclude the march with family.
For organizational reasons, participation is limited to 1,500 people: 750 people on the main route, Lezama – San Mamés; 400 people on the first alternative route, Artxanda – San Mamés; and 350 people on the shortest route, La Salve – San Mamés. The registration fee is 12€ (adults) and 6€ (children) for the complete route, 10€ (adults) and 5€ (children) for the Artxanda route, and free for the La Salve route.
The registration deadline is open until capacity is reached at the following links:
- Route 1: Departure from Athletic Club facilities in Lezama. 9:30 am >> Sign up here.
- Route 2: Departure from near the Artxanda funicular. 12:00 pm >> Sign up here.
- Route 3: Departure from La Salve Bridge at 12:30 pm >> Sign up here.
Regulations of the event and useful information
The organization will have a lead team for the march that participants should not overtake, as it is a non-competitive march.
Participants are advised to be at the chosen starting point 20 minutes in advance to streamline the march.
The pace will be adjusted to the route, the weather conditions of the day, and the schedule calculations provided by the organization.
The march will have support personnel along the route, a closing and aid team, as well as medical assistance at various points. The team will cater to both the full route and the other two options.
A single refreshment point will be set up for the long route in the parking lot of the León Restaurant in Artxanda.
Both this location and the passing areas must be kept clean, with containers provided for waste disposal.
If weather conditions at the start of the march require it, the organization may suspend, postpone, or modify the route.
Any participant who voluntarily wishes to leave the march should notify the nearest organization staff.
