The Galician Symphony Orchestra and Bilbao Choral Society have presented this evening the closing concert of the 24th edition of the Musika-Música Festival, organized by the City Council of Bilbao. Under the direction of Andrew Litton, and with the participation of soprano Cristina Toledo, mezzo-soprano Carmen Artaza, tenor Mateo Iván Rasic, and bass Jan Antem, they performed Beethoven’s «Symphony No. 9 in D minor».
In addition, the festival audience was treated to outstanding concerts today, such as the Navarra Symphony Orchestra with Kukai Dantza Taldea, the Baroque Orchestra of Freiburg, Signum Quartett, pianist Alfonso Gómez, the self-produced lyrical gala «Degli affetti proibiti» performed by mezzo-soprano Beatriz Oleaga and Ensemble Galdós, under the direction and harpsichord of Iván Martín; or the session «Evening of Music and Cinema: Bach, the Music of Perversion» with pianist Ander Marzana, journalist César Coca, and musicologist Patricia Sojo.
Thus, the Musika-Música Festival has concluded its 24th edition, hosting 70 concerts in the usual marathon format, with approximately 45-minute durations, in different concert halls of the Euskalduna Palace simultaneously. This resulted in performances by over 1,500 performers from various regions.
