Convocadas 7 concentraciones en Euskadi contra el genocidio en Palestina

The platform ‘Stop the War’ has called for 120 demonstrations this weekend ‘to end the genocide in Palestine’ throughout the State, seven of which will take place in Euskadi, specifically in Bilbao, San Sebastián, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gernika, Barakaldo, Basauri, and Eibar. Most of them will take place on Saturday, June 14 at 12:00 p.m., while in Barakaldo it will be the same Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and in Basauri, on Sunday, June 15 at 12:00 p.m.

‘Stop the War’ is currently composed of 90 organizations at the state level and 12 in Euskadi, as explained in a press conference held on Thursday at their headquarters by the coordinator of the platform in Euskadi, Florencio Moreno; the spokesperson for ‘Stop the War,’ Ruth Hernández; and members of some of the affiliated entities, such as the socialist councilor in the City Council of Getxo, Mihaela Jilavu; the representative of Nagusiak, Alfonso Sierra; and the member of Belaunaldi Galduak, Conchi García.

The demonstrations in Euskadi scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at 12:00 p.m. will take place in Bilbao (Arenal), San Sebastián (kiosk of the Boulevard), Vitoria-Gasteiz (Plaza de España), Eibar (in front of the City Hall), and Gernika (next to the market). In Barakaldo, the demonstration will be held at the metro exit of Calle de los Fueros at 7:00 p.m. and in Basauri on Calle Valentín Berriochoa on Sunday, June 15 at 12:00 p.m.

At the presentation of the event to the media, they read a manifesto together, in which they expressed that «what is happening in Gaza is a genocide that aims at the extermination and ethnic cleansing of more than two million Gazans, half of them minors.»

After the ceasefire was broken on March 18, «the violence has escalated,» and they have denounced that they are «facing one of the most cruel and deadly moments of the massacre that the Israeli government has been perpetrating for 20 months.»

On the other hand, they have denounced the «alliance» established by the US and the Israeli state, based on «interests» by the Trump government, and have applauded the Spanish Government for being one of the first in Europe to denounce the attacks.

They have recalled that the platform’s slogan is ‘Neither terrorism, nor genocide,’ so they also denounce the attacks by Hamas against the Israeli population, a point, they explained, of «disagreement and division» among some of the platform’s members.

«We say that all terrorism is fascism,» Moreno said, acknowledging the merit of keeping the 90 entities that make up the movement united despite the different points of view that may exist.
