
THE EDUCATION AREA PROMOTES SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL CULTURE IN SCHOOLS WITH NEW SUPPORT FOR INNOVATION PROJECTS

Bilbao joins the celebration of International Mathematics Day by announcing that the Education Area of the Bilbao City Council has reinforced its commitment to STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through a new line of action that will also subsidize programs or projects that promote innovation with the aim of inspiring scientific and technological vocations, STEAM education, and the promotion of scientific and technological culture.
Eider Bilbao, Delegate Councilor for Education in Bilbao, indicates that «on International Mathematics Day, we share the need to strengthen mathematical skills to address the challenges our city faces.» She also adds that «in a constantly evolving world, innovation is not an option, but an imperative, also in education. With this program, we incentivize schools to develop innovative methodologies that awaken students’ interest in STEAM disciplines.»
The program, driven by the Education Area, will fund up to five innovative projects with an approximate grant of 2,000 euros each. Its goal is to inspire scientific and technological vocations, promote educational innovation, and disseminate scientific and technological culture.
In its first edition, the initiative has received eight applications, with proposals that stand out for their quality and innovative nature. According to the program updates, the participation of public schools will be prioritized, in line with the Bilbao City Council’s commitment to accessible and quality education.
