THE MUSIKA-MÚSICA FESTIVAL CONTINUES WITH TICKET SALES FOR ATTENDING THE 70 CONCERTS

  • On Friday, March 7, alongside the opening concert at the Teatro Arriaga, music will begin to sound at the Palacio Euskalduna, hosting performances such as the one by the Galicia Symphony Orchestra with a concert paying tribute to Maurice Ravel on the 150th anniversary of his birth.
  • The Musika-Música Festival will host 70 performances during March 7, 8, and 9, with the participation of over 1,500 performers in the different concert halls of the Palacio Euskalduna.

The Musika-Música Festival organized by the Bilbao City Council will take place on March 7, 8, and 9 under the theme of «Music and Emotions.» Tickets for each of the 70 classical music concerts have been on sale since February 13.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the Palacio Euskalduna – open from Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 20:00, on their website www.euskalduna.eus, and at the link . For the opening concert, tickets can also be obtained at the box office of the Teatro Arriaga or on their website www.teatroarriaga.eus. The capacity for the opening concert by the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa (BOS) and the Sociedad Coral de Bilbao, which will take place on Friday, March 7, at the Teatro Arriaga, is almost full. That same evening, music will also start to play in the various spaces and halls of the Palacio Euskalduna, in the usual marathon format, with 69 performances of around 45 minutes each, throughout the weekend.

The Auditorio will host a concert by the Galicia Symphony Orchestra on Friday, March 7, at 20:30, paying a grand tribute to Maurice Ravel on the 150th anniversary of his birth. The orchestra will perform three of his most famous works: «Valses nobles et sentimentales,» «La Valse,» and «Bolero

This space will concentrate on the SYMPHONIC AND CHORAL CONCERTS throughout the three days of the festival. The Galicia Symphony Orchestra, Euskadiko Orkestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, which has not performed in the peninsula for 15 years; the Bilbao Municipal Band, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, and the Sociedad Coral de Bilbao will take the stage at the Auditorio.

Ravel’s music will not be the only one heard at the Auditorio. This space will also witness six symphonies: «Symphony No. 7» by Dvorak and «Symphony No. 4» by Brahms, with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra; «Symphony No. 6» by Tchaikovsky, with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra; «Symphonie fantastique» by Berlioz, with Euskadiko Orkestra; and «Symphony No. 1» by Bizet, with the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, which, along with the Sociedad Coral de Bilbao, will also perform Beethoven’s «Ninth Symphony.» There will also be the opportunity to listen to «Concerto for Violin and Orchestra» by Max Bruch, performed by the BOS with violinist Elinor D’Melon; and «Concerto for Piano and Orchestra» by Grieg, with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and pianist Martín García García.

With the program «Emotions in the Wind,» the Bilbao Municipal Band and soprano Andrea Jiménez will perform works by Wagner, Rutter, Whitacre, Arditi, Valencia, Puccini, and Jager at the Auditorio.

Room 0B, dedicated to CHAMBER ORCHESTRAS -some of them perform in the most prestigious concert halls in Europe-, will host concerts by the Festival Strings Lucerne Orchestra, a Swiss string ensemble known for its virtuosity and versatility; the Nereydas Ensemble, specialized in baroque music performed with period instruments; Café Zimmermann, considered one of the leading ensembles in performing Johann Sebastian Bach; the Diderot Ensemble, expert in early Baroque repertoire, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, one of the most admired in the early music scene; and the OBNI Ensemble.

Chamber music and recitals will have their place with the audience in rooms 0D and 0A, where the Meccore String Quartet, the Trio con brio Copenhagen, and pianist Martín García García will perform.

Family sessions or those dedicated to cinema will also have their space in different halls of the Euskalduna. One of the most anticipated performances is «Operetta,» the family show that has sold out on its tour, bringing laughter to both young and old.

YOUNG PERFORMERS will have their space at the Kiosko, where different conservatories and music education centers from various communities will perform in 12 concerts.
