The «Intercultural Gale» exhibition will tour all districts of Bilbao to showcase throughout the city the richness and variety of the cultural, creative, and artistic offer of the neighborhoods of San Francisco, Zabala, and Bilbao La Vieja.
Its first stop will be tomorrow Tuesday, February 18, with its opening at the Abando Municipal Center (6:00 p.m.) until February 28, when it will travel to another district.
The exhibition features a hundred images and videos from the festive day «Intercultural Gale«, held last May at Plaza de las Mujeres, through the lens of Bilbao photographer Olga Ruiz, along with the collaboration of photographer Sergio Verde and the digital creators team from Kamanga.
This team has put together the current exhibition that reveals the most cosmopolitan area of the city where a diverse neighborhood coexists, highlighting a significant presence of people from the gypsy community and people from the five continents, creating a unique richness and panorama thanks to the diversity of these cultures.
With this exhibition, the goal is to invite the residents of Bilbao to get to know, live, and enjoy the corners of this historic and constantly transforming area of the Bilbao Villa.
FRAMED IN THE «ZUBIRIK PLAN»
The «Intercultural Gale« was organized by the Bilbao City Council in collaboration with the social entity KOOP SF 34, within the framework of the «Zubirik 2025 Plan». This plan aims to improve the quality of life for people living in Bilbao La Vieja, San Francisco, and Zabala.
With a total forecasted investment exceeding seven million euros, the Plan includes 40 actions in various areas: social, urban, health, mobility, commercial, educational, training, labor, and equality.
Led by the Social Action Area of the Bilbao City Council, the «Zubirik 2025 Plan» is aligned with the Values Charter (Bilbao Balioen Hiria) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, and is part of Bilbao’s commitment as a member of the State Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI) to promote equality, respect, and recognition of diversity, positive interaction, and coexistence through programs and initiatives that value intercultural coexistence.
