El delantero de 23 años llega con la carta de libertad bajo el brazo desde el RCD Mallorca y firma hasta 2030
El Athletic Club y el futbolista Robert Navarro han alcanzado un acuerdo para que el delantero, libre de contrato, se comprometa con Ibaigane hasta el 30 de junio de 2030. A sus 23 años, acumula gran experiencia en formación en las canteras de CA Osasuna, FC Barcelona, AS Monaco y Real Sociedad, donde llegó a los 17 años al filial. Suma 89 partidos en la élite, con participación continental incluida, y dos goles, en la Europa League.
Robert Navarro (23 años) aterriza procedente del RCD Mallorca, donde ha disputado 25 encuentros alternando la posición de extremo con la de mediapunta. Siempre ha sido considerado una joya en categorías inferiores, con presencia en todas las selecciones españolas desde Sub 16 hasta la Sub 21.
«Es un paso importante en mi carrera. Llego con mucha ilusión, el Club está creciendo en todos los ámbitos y me gusta porque tiene mucha ambición. Tengo muchas ganas de empezar a entrenar, conocer al grupo y trabajar para conseguir todos los objetivos de este año», ha declarado Navarro.
El director general de Fútbol, Mikel González, ha valorado así el fichaje del nuevo atacante rojiblanco: «Su incorporación es una gran oportunidad. Llega libre con un mercado muy amplio. Pese a su juventud, tiene una gran experiencia en el fútbol profesional. Técnicamente brillante, con mucho manejo y habilidad y gran conducción con las dos piernas. Se siente cómodo partiendo de cualquiera de las dos bandas, aunque mucha parte de su juego es en zonas interiores».
De progenitores pamploneses, nació en Barcelona cuando su padre, Roberto, era toda una institución como defensa en L’Hospitalet, a donde había llegado tras formarse en Tajonar previo paso por el Sant Andreu. Al retirarse del fútbol, la familia regresó a Iruñea, donde el pequeño Robert empezó a llamar la atención en el Irabia de fútbol sala y se incorporó en edad alevín al CA Osasuna (2011). Su temprana progresión le catapultó al FC Barcelona, que dejaría en juveniles por el AS Monaco, donde se convirtió a sus 16 años en el futbolista más joven en debutar en su primera plantilla de la mano de Thierry Henry.
Traspasado a la Real Sociedad, Navarro se incorporó al filial y en su segundo año debutó en el primer equipo y resultó clave en el ascenso del Sanse a la segunda categoría con Xabi Alonso como entrenador, marcando 11 tantos. Fue ya en la temporada 2022-23 cuando participó ya con Imanol Alguacil en 26 encuentros. Tras una cesión al Cádiz CF, donde disputó 30 envites, llegó la venta al RCD Mallorca, en el que firmó un año.
La presentación oficial de Robert Navarro como nuevo futbolista del Athletic Club se llevará a cabo después del arranque de la pretemporada. En la línea trazada por la Junta Directiva, su contrato tiene una estructura salarial con un componente de variable por objetivos.

Athletic Club and footballer Robert Navarro have reached an agreement for the forward, free of contract, to commit to Ibaigane until June 30, 2030. At 23 years old, he has accumulated great experience in training in the youth academies of CA Osasuna, FC Barcelona, AS Monaco, and Real Sociedad, where he arrived at the age of 17 to the reserve team. He has played 89 games in the elite, including continental participation, and scored two goals in the Europa League.
Robert Navarro (23 years old) lands from RCD Mallorca, where he has played 25 games alternating between the winger and attacking midfielder positions. He has always been considered a gem in youth categories, with appearances in all Spanish national teams from U16 to U21.
«It is an important step in my career. I arrive with a lot of excitement, the Club is growing in all areas and I like it because it is very ambitious. I am eager to start training, get to know the group, and work to achieve all the goals for this year,» Navarro stated. The Football Director, Mikel González, has valued the signing of the new red-and-white attacker as follows: «His addition is a great opportunity. He arrives as a free agent with a very broad market. Despite his youth, he has great experience in professional football. Technically brilliant, with great control and skill, and excellent dribbling with both legs. He feels comfortable playing from either wing, although much of his game is in central areas.»
Born in Barcelona to parents from Pamplona, Robert’s father, Roberto, was a well-known defender in L’Hospitalet, where he had arrived after training in Tajonar and a previous stint at Sant Andreu. When he retired from football, the family returned to Iruñea, where young Robert began to attract attention at Irabia in futsal and joined CA Osasuna as an alevín (2011). His early progression catapulted him to FC Barcelona, where he left for AS Monaco after playing in the youth teams, becoming, at 16, the youngest player to debut in the first team under the guidance of Thierry Henry.
Transferred to Real Sociedad, Navarro joined the reserve team and in his second year made his debut in the first team, playing a key role in Sanse’s promotion to the second division with Xabi Alonso as coach, scoring 11 goals. It was in the 2022-23 season when he participated in 26 games under Imanol Alguacil. After a loan spell at Cádiz CF, where he played 30 matches, he was sold to RCD Mallorca, where he signed for a year.
The official presentation of Robert Navarro as a new player for Athletic Club will take place after the start of the preseason. Following the guidelines set by the Board of Directors, his contract has a salary structure with a component of variable pay based on objectives.
