
Bilbao Jokoan will bring basketball to the heart of Bilbao this weekend. The PRO male and female categories will feature luxury protagonists in the first edition of the tournament. Here are some of the standout names in the categories starting this Saturday, the 14th:
Unai Mendikote (Bilbao Miners)
The former MIB is one of the most respected players in the 3X3 circuit. The current player for Club Ourense Baloncesto in the 1st FEB is an international with Spain in this modality. In Bilbao, he will put on the Miners jersey for the first time.
Maria Asurmendi (Nasabi PyB Pamplona)
Bilbao will offer the opportunity to see the historic Navarrese player in action. With an impressive experience, she has played three seasons at Perfumerías Avenida, four at Araski, and one at Lointek Gernika. Asurmendi’s accolades include 3 Queen’s Cups and two leagues.
Marcel Ponitka (Gdynia)
Polish international, Ponitka played in the Liga Endesa 22/23 with Zaragoza. Last season, he competed in the FIBA Europe Cup with Legia Warsaw, facing the MIB in the quarter-finals of the competition. He currently plays for WKS Slask Wroclaw in the 1st division of Poland. Joining him in the tournament will be his brother Kasper Ponitka and Piotr Karpacz, both players in the 2nd division of Poland.
Paula Estebas (Agua y Jardín)
The 32-year-old player from La Rioja has a long career in Liga Femenina 1, having played for Campus Promete, Arasdi, Estudiantes, IDK Euskotren, and Barça CBS. She spent the 24/25 season in Brescia, Italy. In Bilbao, she will represent Agua y Jardín, one of the most prestigious teams in the 3X3 circuit.
Asier González (3X3 Pitius Easy Tax)
The Basque player has been one of the standout performers of the season in the 1st FEB, reaching the Playoffs with Cartagena and pushing the newly promoted Betis to a fifth game. The power forward has averaged a notable 6.7 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Marina Gea (Combi Teika)
The Granada player will compete in the next LF1 season after a historic promotion with CAB Estepona a few weeks ago. With 325 steals, the guard holds the record for most steals in the history of La Liga Femenina Challenge.
Itziar Ariztimuño (Bilbao Miners)
The Basque player has just bid farewell to Gernika after eight consecutive seasons in the elite. A luxury addition of a player who will make her 3X3 debut with Bilbao Miners in this tournament.
