La Banda Municipal de Música de Bilbao will once again fill the emblematic Kiosko del Arenal with melodies this Friday at 7:00 p.m., with a concert that promises to thrill the residents and visitors of the Villa.
Under the title «Tarde vitoriana,» the program represents a change in the spring programming of the Band, which will be directed on this occasion by Luis Orduña Ridruejo, the current director of the Municipal Band of Music of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
As reported by the city council, it will be a «very special» evening with a repertoire that includes several pieces performed for the first time by the Bilbao Band, as well as a world premiere.
The program will offer the audience a carefully selected range of contemporary compositions linked to the Basque and Spanish music scene: «Obertura» (2017) by Eduardo Moreno, «Tránsitos» (2025) by Tomás San Miguel (world premiere), «La danza de las estrellas» (2020) by Joselu Ruiz de Gordoa, «Poema Gasteiztarra» (2022) by J. Vicent Egea, and «Renacimiento» (2023) by Silvia San Miguel. On June 6, «Vientos franceses» will be performed, with Iñaki Urkizu, the Band’s assistant director, at the helm.
