San Mamés Sports from March 17 to 21, focusing on topics such as sports journalism, the relationship between football and humor or Basque music, the graphic dimension of football, and the greatest nightmares of pop culture. Speakers like Enric González and Carles Sans will be present.
The XVI edition of the cultural festival of the Athletic Club Foundation «Letras y Fútbol» will be held at Geuria! San Mamés Sports from Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 21. Five days of cultural meetings with top-level figures who will discuss various topics related to football and literature, music, humor, illustration, and advertising. This year’s lineup includes Enric González, Javier Aznar, Roberto Moso, Gari, Lore Nekane Billelabeitia, Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga, Carles Sans, Lucía Taboada, Jorge Valdano Sáenz, the podcasters of Campamento Krypton, Antonio Pacheco, Lawerta, and Manuel Marsol, the illustrator behind the «Letras y Fútbol» 2025 poster. The program for this year also includes the screening of the documentary «Get Shirty,» about the origin of the replica football shirt industry with the Admiral brand.
In short, a new festival with the unmistakable social stamp of Athletic Club and framed within the Culture axis, which, together with Community and Inclusion, are the three constant working areas of the Foundation.

Monday, March 17, 19:00: «Conversation between Javier Aznar and Enric González»
Writer and journalist Enric González (Barcelona, 1959) is a familiar face at the Letras y Fútbol festival. His fascinating view of football always gives him the opportunity to discuss key topics for today’s society: corruption, violence, business, hypocrisy… in his own words: «the theater of life.» This time he will share the stage with Javier Aznar (Santander, 1985), an excellent conversationalist known for the successful podcast «Hotel Jorge Juan.»

Tuesday, March 18, 19:00: «Musika, futbola eta identitateak,» with Roberto Moso, Gari, Lore Nekane Billelabeitia, and Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga
The history of Basque rock cannot be explained without two of the guests on the second day of the festival. On one hand, Gari, vocalist of Hertzainak and a musician with a brilliant solo career since 1995. On the other, Roberto Moso, founder of Zarama. They will be joined in this dialogue on music, football, and identities by Lore Nekane Billelabeitia (Mungia, 1994), bassist, keyboardist, and one of the voices of the group Belako, and another familiar face from Letras y Fútbol, the ineffable Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga.

Wednesday, March 19, 19:00: «Football and humor,» with Lucía Taboada, Carles Sans, and Jorge Valdano Sáenz
«Letras y Fútbol» is a festival that, between reflections, always opens a window to humor. This edition features a stellar trio: Carles Sans (Barcelona, 1955), founding member of the legendary and brilliant Tricicle, Lucía Taboada (Vigo, 1986), journalist, television presenter, and author of some of the scripts for Pantomima Full, and Jorge Valdano Sáenz, a screenwriter with over two decades of professional experience in the audiovisual industry and author of the football comedy «Pollos sin cabeza.»

Thursday, March 20, 19:00: «Campamento Krypton. Bad football: dives of pop culture,» with Jota Lynnot, José Viruete, MAT, and Barsen Sánchez
The 2020 edition of «Letras y Fútbol» already featured a special podcast created for the occasion by Campamento Krypton under the title «Popular culture and football.» Now, Jota Lynnot, José Viruete, MAT, and Barsen Sánchez return to the festival to perform live one of their monographic episodes full of humor, information, curiosities, and various anecdotes.

In 2021, as part of the special edition of «Thinking» organized by the Foundation during the pandemic, a special session dedicated to football and advertising left a great impression. Four years later, «Letras y Fútbol» 2025 picks up where that edition left off and brings together a trio of experts in advertising – Antonio Pacheco –, illustration and art – Lawerta and Manuel Marsol –, to discuss football as an image.
