The
“DEATH IS A PROBLEM FOR THE LIVING”, DE TEEMU NIKKI, CONQUISTA EL PREMIO DEL JURADO AL MEJOR LARGOMETRAJE DE LA SECCIÓN OFICIAL DEL FESTIVAL DE CINE FANTÁSTICO-FANT 2025
was awarded by the Jurado al Mejor Cortometraje de la Sección Oficial to “Game over”, de Adrian Cacciola; y el galardón al Mejor Cortometraje Vasco was given to “Presencia”, de Igor Salutregi Gabiola.
In the Sección Panorama, the Premio al Mejor Largometraje went to “Keratyna”, de Miguel Azurmendi, while the Premio al Mejor Cortometraje was awarded to “Humanity”, de Tereza Kovandova.
The audience at the Festival selected “Espantaho”, de Chito S. Roño as the Premio del Público al Mejor Largometraje de Sección Oficial and “Una carroña”, de Daniel Alegrete as the Premio del Público al Mejor Cortometraje.
The main palmarés will be projected tomorrow, on Saturday, at the Sala BBK: at 17:00 hours the winning films in the Sección Panorama Fantástico, and at 19:30 hours those in the Sección Oficial.
The Jurado of the Festival de Cine Fantástico – FANT, organized by the Ayuntamiento de Bilbao, composed of Diana Rojo, Justo Ezenarro and Soy Una Pringada, awarded the Premio al Mejor Largometraje of this 31 edición to “Death is a problem for the living”, de Teemu Nikki, «for making us see that it is not wrong to empathize with the villains of the movie and to make us feel so uncomfortable that all we are left with is laughter,» as valued by the Jurado.
In short films, the award for the Mejor Cortometraje de la Sección Oficial went to “Game over”, de Adrian Cacciola, «for showing that any routine of daily life can unleash our homicidal instincts,» according to the Jurado. Cacciola’s project also managed to be crowned as the Premio Méliès de Plata Al Mejor Cortometraje Europeo Fantástico de la Sección Oficial.
Furthermore, they chose “Presencia”, de Igor Salutregi Gabiola, as Mejor Cortometraje Vasco. In this case, the jury highlighted it «for showing that you only need a good idea and a natural interpretation to achieve an original story without great resources.»
In this 2025 edition, the Asociación de Guionistas Vascos – Euskal Gidoigileak considered “Desert road”, de Shannon Triplett, worthy of the Premio Al Mejor Guion de Largometraje de la Sección Oficial for its innovative handling of the «temporal loop» genre.
The Premio a la Dirección Más Innovadora Cineclub FAS was awarded to “The silent planet”, película de Jeffrey St. Jules, for its original alien design, mysterious pink cloud, and commitment to expanding the horizons of science fiction.
The Unión de Actores Vascos – Euskal Aktoreen Batasuna (EAB) decided to award the Mejor Interpretación de FANT en cortos vascos 2025 to Eguzki Zubia for her role in ‘Una carroña’, de Daniel Alegrete.
The audience awarded the Premio del Público a la Mejor Película de la Sección Oficial to “Espantaho”, de Chito S. Roño, and for the cortometrajes of the Sección Oficial, the public chose ‘Una carroña’, de Daniel Alegrete. Additionally, the Premio del Jurado Joven al Mejor Largometraje de Sección Oficial went to “Gatillero” de Cris Tapia Marchior.
The SECCIÓN PANORAMA FANTÁSTICO saw the Jurado awarding the Premio al Mejor Largometraje to “Keratyna”, de Miguel Azurmendi, and the Premio al Mejor Cortometraje to “Humanity”, de Tereza Kovandova.
The Palmarés will be projected tomorrow in the Sala BBK: at 17:00 hours the winning films of the Sección Panorama Fantástico, and at 19:30 hours, the titles awarded in the Sección Oficial.
