
109 GIRLS AND BOYS FROM KIDEGUNES AND GAZTEGUNES IN ABANDO, BEGOÑA, CASTAÑOS, ESPERANTZA, IRALA, DEUSTO, BASURTO, LA PERRERA, AND OTXARKOAGA, TOMORROW AT THE XVI FIRST LEGO LEAGUE EUSKADI
- They will participate in the multisite tournament that will take place this Saturday, February 22nd synchronously in Bilbao, Donostia, Mondragón, and Vitoria-Gasteiz.
- The Councilor of Youth and Sports of the City of Bilbao, Itxaso Erroteta, will travel to cheer them on up close to the Deusto Campus in Donostia, where the teams promoted by the City of Bilbao will be competing.
A total of 109 girls and boys from 13 teams of municipal Kidegunes and Gaztegunes in Abando, Begoña, Castaños, Esperantza, Irala, Deusto, Basurto, La Perrera, and Otxarkoaga will participate tomorrow on Saturday, February 22nd, in the XVI Edition of the First Lego League Euskadi 2024-2025.
There are 170 teams defending their projects. This year, 63 more people are participating than last year, along with 5 additional teams. Additionally, it has expanded to other neighborhoods like Casco Viejo, Irala, or Deusto. The teams have been preparing for this year’s challenge since October, linked to ocean research titled “Submerged”.
The First Lego League Euskadi is an international educational program where each year more than 250,000 young people between 4 and 16 years old from over 90 countries around the world participate. Through group learning experiences, fun activities, and real thematic challenges, this program aims to spark interest in science and technology from an early age, through the STEAM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Participating teams develop skills for the scientific and digital world and acquire values such as discovery, innovation, inclusion, and teamwork.
The XVI Edition of the First Lego League Euskadi is organized by the Basque Innovation Agency, Innobasque, along with the University of Deusto, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, and UPV/EHU. The multisite tournament will take place tomorrow synchronously in Bilbao, Donostia, Mondragón, and Vitoria-Gasteiz.
