Reunión del Athletic Club con ICHH sobre propuesta de animación

Athletic Club meets with representatives of this group, explains the inaccuracies and unfeasibilities of the request received, and presents the way for them to energize the animation against AS Roma.

Athletic Club has met this afternoon with representatives of ICHH regarding the proposal presented by this group «so that Herri Harmaila and San Mamés roar as the occasion deserves,» in reference to the match against AS Roma. In this meeting, Athletic Club, first of all, explained in detail the inaccuracies and unfeasibilities of the request received. Next, they outlined the way for ICHH to energize the animation next Thursday, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

These are the inaccuracies and unfeasibilities that Athletic Club has highlighted in the first part of the meeting.

1. ICHH literally states: «Given that the vast majority of our animators cannot use Club’s animation elements, as per article 10.10 of the San Mamés Access Regulations…» This statement is incorrect and requires clarification. Specifically, out of the seven people that ICHH proposes as animators («two megaphones, two drums, and three banners»), only one is prohibited from using the animation elements for violating article 10.10.

2. In any case, it is important to note that the «Stadium Access and Permanence Regulations,» approved by the Club’s Assembly, regulate the use of ALL animation elements, not just those belonging to the Club. Title III of the Regulations clearly outlines the general rules applicable to ALL spectators and attendees of sports events. In other words, akin to someone who has been penalized proposing to drive with a different car after losing their license, the consequences of non-compliance with the regulations affect individuals, not the elements themselves.

3. However, as mentioned in the first point, six out of the seven people presented to animate the show can do so without any issues, as there are no regulatory impediments on them. Consequently, the Club has not and does not hinder them from animating, as long as they comply with the aforementioned regulations approved by the Club’s Assembly, as they had been doing until they decided not to animate.

4. Finally, it is worth noting that the use of external megaphones is restricted precisely to safeguard the Club’s interests and those of the speakers, as it is necessary to have recorded proof of their usage for defense in potential sanctioning proceedings. Additionally, recording is a requirement of the Security Coordinator to document the chants, and the authorities’ regulations demand that the system used be connected to security systems, which is not feasible with megaphones.

Transitional Proposal

Having clarified the inaccuracies and unfeasibilities of the received alternative, Athletic Club has proposed the following transitional proposal to ICHH, which is also being made public for the knowledge of Members and Young Season Ticket Holders.

  • Regarding the 2 megaphones:

As clarified in the previous point 4, handheld megaphones cannot be used as a replacement for the microphone that has been used this season and in the past.

The practical and straightforward solution is for them to use the available microphone of any of the six out of the seven proposed animators (only one person is legally unable), with the animators signing the usual request document that has been signed since the beginning of the season, unless they have already signed it before.

  • Regarding the 3 large flags, 1 handheld flag, and the requested ICHH banner:

The introduction of the requested flags and banner is authorized, with the animators signing the standard request document that has been signed since the beginning of the season, unless they have already signed it before.

  • Regarding the 2 drums and drumsticks:

The Club informs that there is no objection to the use of these elements. In any case, the Club offers ICHH the Club’s drums currently at San Mamés, as they do not require prior installation as they are the same drums that ICHH has been using until they stopped animating.

From the defense of respect as a fundamental principle, open to dialogue

Athletic Club also announces that they have received a response from ICHH to the document of basic principles and commitments published by the Club on February 18th.

Athletic Club always keeps the door open to dialogue and has proposed a new meeting with ICHH for this same week to evaluate their document.

The Club has informed ICHH that they will defend their objective with the same determination as they have been doing so far: for Herri Harmaila to animate in all matches and do so with respect. This goal aligns with the values of Athletic Club and the spirit of what was approved at the Extraordinary Assembly where the creation of the popular animation stand was decided.

The Club will provide updates on the outcome of the new meetings shortly.
