Fashion Revolution Week 2025 en Sala BBK con actividades familiares gratuitas.

The Fashion Revolution Week 2025, the fourth edition organized in Bilbao of this global event, will arrive this week at Sala BBK with various proposals. A dozen family-friendly recreational activities, a large upcycled fashion show, several talks, and an exhibition of new innovative materials will take place at Gran Vía between the 11th and 16th of April.

According to information from the Bilbao venue, Fashion Revolution is an international non-profit organization present in more than 100 countries. Airí Ferrer, its coordinator in Euskadi, defines it as «a global movement that unites the efforts of individuals and institutions to improve the way fashion is produced and consumed,» considered the third most polluting sector in the world and generating 10% of our carbon footprint.

Its main periodic milestone is this Fashion Revolution Week, held annually to coincide with the anniversary of the 2013 collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh. In 2025, Sala BBK will once again be one of its venues. Coinciding with the start of the Easter school holidays (from April 13 to 16), the Bilbao theater will remove its seats to host a series of activities aimed at children aged 3 to 12 related to sustainable fashion.

«It will be a journey through a dozen proposals to have fun while we delve into responsible consumption and question the origin and sustainability of the garments we wear. There will be games, costumes, stories, drawing areas, creating rag balls, or learning to read clothing labels; and it is recommended to bring a shirt that is no longer used for one of the experiences,» they added.

«Environmental education is essential for good habits to arise naturally,» Ferrer defended, adding that «that is why it is essential to start from a young age to understand the impact of our clothing, the waste it generates, or how to make it last.»

With this event at Sala BBK, the aim is to turn this learning «into something fun that can be done as a family» and that will culminate in a gift for those who «complete the Fashion Revolution Euskadi passport after visiting all the points on the circuit.»

Admission is free (it is recommended to reserve in advance on the website salabbk.bbk.eus to avoid capacity issues) and the doors will open this Sunday, the 13th, at 4:00 pm.

It will also be possible to visit on Monday the 14th and Tuesday the 15th (from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm), as well as on Wednesday the 16th (from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm). The event, with the collaboration of entities such as Koopera, Bilbao Basket, or Intermon Oxfam, will have a special area for children under 3 years old.

In addition to the activities circuit, which will be available every day, for the opening on the afternoon of the 13th, the organization promises «special surprises.»

Before that family plan, the Fashion Revolution Week 2025 will bring two talks to Sala BBK this Friday, April 11th (starting at 4:30 pm) on the future of fashion and different ways to approach ethical textile production.

Later, at 7:00 pm, both the interior and exterior of the venue will become a great catwalk to host an upcycling or supracycled fashion show, a practice within the circular economy that involves transforming discarded materials or products to create new objects with a much higher economic and ecological value than the original.

Thirty looks designed by young emerging talents from renowned Basque schools that focus on sustainability will be showcased. Additionally, on both that day and the following day (Saturday, April 12), the hall of Sala BBK will host the «Material Revolution» exhibition, where visitors can learn about and experience firsthand a new generation of innovative materials that are already helping to address environmental issues in the textile sector. All these activities will be open to the general public and will be free of charge; you just need to obtain an online invitation at eventbrite.es.
